The Noises 10 - Our Lady Love

Act I, a Michigan town, forty-five years ago
hard times when the money don't come for daddy's work in the basement below
so everybody's gotta do what you can to keep this ship afloat
while I'm on the outside looking in, and I don't know how to begin to say

maybe it's just too much for you
our lady love your virtue has escaped you
oh maybe, just maybe, you weren't meant to be the heroine

Act II, the son went off to school, so mother sent letters on tape
she'd call if she just had the money, but money's not what worship saved
so she needs someone to talk to touch
this prayer just isolates

while I'm on the outside looking in, and I don't know how to begin to say
maybe it's just too much for you
our lady love your virtue has escaped you
oh maybe, just maybe you weren't meant to be the heroine

All the money wasted
All the pipe dreams and the big plans
you wanted to happen, but you know you can save them
All you've got to do for me now, is save yourself

maybe it's just too much for you
maybe it's just too much for you
oh ma(a-a-a-a)ybe it's just too much for you
our lady love your virtue has escaped you
or maybe, just maybe, you weren't meant to be the heroine
